O papel do design na introdução da folha de pedra, para a criação de um novo produto no âmbito da iluminação

Abstract

A presente investigação surge da necessidade de desenvolver novos pro-dutos com base em um material - a folha de pedra - por parte da empresa Value-Optimized Lda. O projeto/dissertação teve como objetivo a elaboração de dois candeeiros - objetos de iluminação - que tivessem a capacidade de realçar a efici-ência na adaptação do material a formas complexas. As formas propostas ba-seiam-se em estruturas pré-concebidas que podem servir de ponto de partida para outras aplicações, com potencialidades na criação e desenvolvimento de uma linha de objetos de iluminação para a empresa ValueOtpimized. Pretendeu-se nesta investigação que o foco principal fosse o material, desta forma, os vários tipos de folha de pedra foram submetidos a experimenta-ções que resultaram e evidenciaram a sua melhor aplicabilidade, tornando assim possível a inovação do material no âmbito da iluminação. Assim sendo a singula-ridade resultante desta investigação, no que diz respeito à introdução da folha de pedra em objetos de iluminação, é totalmente inovadora no sentido em que não existe até à data nada no mercado que possa ser equiparável. Foi de extrema importância que ambos os protótipos conferissem e pre-servassem a identidade do material, facilitando a sua relação com a empresa. As caraterísticas estéticas dos protótipos finais, garantidamente obtidas através da particular utilização da folha de pedra, permitiu obter inovadores efeitos de ilu-minação, tornam-se uma mais-valia que poderá potenciar a futura comercializa-ção deste tipo de candeeiros. Finalmente, é de destacar a capacidade de relação e aproximação da em-presa com a instituição de ensino, que revelou ser um fator fundamental e um grande catalisador processual de todo o trabalho, revelando-se um excelente meio de partilha mútua de conhecimento e informação.

The present research arises from the need to develop new products based on a material - the leaf of stone - by the company ValueOptimized Lda. The pro-ject / dissertation had as its objective the elaboration of two lamps - objects of illumination - that had the capacity of efficiency in adapting the material to com-plex shapes. The pro forma forms are based on pre-designed structures that can serve as a starting point for other applications, with potential in the creation and development of a line of lighting objects for ValueOtpimi-zed. It was intended that the main focus was the material, in this way, the var-ious types of stone sheet were submitted to experiments that resulted and evi-denced their best applicability, thus making possible the innovation of the mate-rial in the scope of illumination. In this way, the uniqueness resulting from this research, with regard to the introduction of the stone sheet into lighting objects, is totally innovative in the sense that there is at present nothing in the market that can be comparable. It was of extreme importance that both prototypes confer and preserve the identity of the material, facilitating its relationship with the company. The aes-thetic characteristics of the final prototypes, guaranteed through the particular use of the stone sheet, allowed to obtain innovative effects of illumination, will become an added value that may enhance the future commercialization of this type of lamps. Finally, it is important to highlight the capacity of relation and approach of the company with the teaching institution, which proved to be a fundamental factor and a great process catalyst for all work, proving to be an excellent means of mutual knowledge sharing and information.
