| pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | This internship report was developed within the framework of the second year of the Master's in Sports Training, with a specialization in football, and aims to critically describe and analyze the professional practice carried out as an assistant coach intern with SC Braga’s under-19 women’s team during the 2024/2025 season. The internship took place in a high-performance environment, integrated into a technically skilled coaching staff, providing a close approximation to the professional reality. The activities included planning and conducting training sessions, providing tactical and technical feedback, participating in staff meetings, and supporting both the organizational and functional tasks of the team. The internship also involved detailed preparation for matches, including opponent analysis and the implementation of game principles consistent with the club’s model of play. Complementing the practical component, a scientific research study was developed to explore the perceptions and practices of Portuguese football coaches regarding the menstrual cycle’s impact on female athletes’ performance. This quantitative, descriptive study involved 77 certified coaches with experience in women’s football and revealed a lack of formal training, limited knowledge, and few structured practices related to menstrual health in sport. The conclusions of the report highlight substantial personal, academic, and professional growth, with the internship playing a decisive role in consolidating coaching identity, technical knowledge, and contextual understanding of competitive football. The team’s achievement as national champions in the Under-19 Women’s League, the multiple national team call-ups, and the successful presentation of the research at the “Applied Science in Football” international conference hosted by the Portuguese Football Federation represent key milestones validating the impact of this professional experience. | pt_PT |
