Abstract

This thesis presents an integrated assessment that combines a practical evaluation of cryptographic tools with a comprehensive literature analysis of the field.The literature review traces the evolution of cryptographic research, identifies emerging trends, and highlights the most influential contributions shaping the discipline. Given the accelerating growth of cryptography driven by escalating cybersecurity threats, this dual analysis provides meaningful insight into how the field has developed and where it is heading, reinforcing its essential role in modern security architectures. In parallel, the practical assessment examines how widely used cryptographic tools behave across different configuration scenarios, highlighting their strengths, limitations, and operational effectiveness, with a particular focus on their ability to support secure communication and robust information protection.

Esta tese apresenta uma avaliação integrada que combina uma avalição prática de ferramentas criptográficas comum a análise bibliográfica abrangente da área. A revisão bibliográfica traça a evolução da pesquisa criptográfica, identifica tendências emergentes e destaca as contribuições mais influentes que moldam a disciplina. Dado o crescimento acelerado a criptografia impulsionado pelas crescentes ameaças à segurança cibernética, esta análise dupla fornece uma visão significativa sobre como o campo se desenvolveu e para onde está a caminhar, reforçando o seu papel essencial nas arquiteturas de segurança modernas.
