Arte e Interculturalidade: promoção de um diálogo intercultural em contextos educativos formais destinados a jovens

Abstract

Num mundo cada vez mais globalizado, a interculturalidade resulta da interação entre as pessoas de inúmeras etnias e culturas, repensando as dinâmicas sociais, políticas e económicas, e superando os estereótipos e os preconceitos culturais, desde malentendidos a conflitos sociais. A Arte educa e transforma através de uma linguagem universal, permitindo às pessoas que se conectem e compreendam a vida, através de histórias e experiências partilhadas. Desta forma, atua como um agente promotor da empatia e do entendimento mútuo. Estes são aspetos essenciais para construir uma sociedade justa, inclusiva e harmoniosa, através do diálogo, respeito e na valorização da diversidade cultural. O presente estudo reforça o ensino das Artes com um recurso a práticas artísticas visuais e ao diálogo intercultural entre os jovens, em contexto educativo formal. Esta intervenção ocorreu na disciplina de Educação Visual, numa escola do concelho de Viana do Castelo (Portugal). Este trabalho entendeu as dinâmicas interculturais que os alunos das turmas A, B e C do 5º ano tiveram, de modo a realizarem trabalhos que promovem o diálogo intercultural. O tipo de metodologia selecionado para este estudo foi a Investigação-Ação, recorrendo a vários instrumentos de recolha de dados: a observação participante, o diário de bordo, os questionários e as entrevistas. As questões de investigação orientaram a Investigação-Ação e esta ofereceu a vantagem de agregar o conhecimento sobre as práticas artísticas e ao mesmo tempo promover o diálogo intercultural sob o processo de ensino e aprendizagem. A promoção da interculturalidade através das práticas artísticas também se manifesta no reconhecimento e na interação que os participantes têm com as outras culturas, celebrando as diferenças culturais, étnicas, religiosas e linguísticas. O estudo respondeu às questões de investigação elaboradas e concluiu-se que é possível promover a interculturalidade através das práticas artísticas, pois estas possibilitam a expressão dos sentimentos e das identidades, e o conhecimento do outro, favorecendo também a comunicação entre as pessoas de várias culturas e promovendo a educação intercultural.

Abstract In an increasingly globalized world, interculturality results from the interaction between people of numerous ethnicities and cultures, rethinking social, political, and economic dynamics, and overcoming cultural stereotypes and prejudices, from misunderstandings to social conflicts. Art educates and transforms through a universal language, allowing people to connect and understand life through shared stories and experiences. In this way, it acts as a promoter of empathy and mutual understanding. These are essential aspects for building a just, inclusive, and harmonious society through dialogue, respect, and the appreciation of cultural diversity. This study reinforces the teaching of the Arts with the use of visual artistic practices and intercultural dialogue among young people in a formal educational context. This intervention took place in the Visual Education subject, in a school in the municipality of Viana do Castelo (Portugal). This work understood the intercultural dynamics that the students of classes A, B, and C of the 5th year had, to carry out works that promote intercultural dialogue. The type of methodology selected for this study was Action Research, using various data collection instruments: participant observation, logbook, questionnaires, and interviews. The research questions guided the Action Research and it offered the advantage of aggregating knowledge about artistic practices and at the same time promoting intercultural dialogue in the teaching and learning process. The intercultural promotion in sharing through artistic practices also manifested itself in the recognition and interaction the participants have with other cultures, celebrating cultural, ethnic, religious, and linguistic differences. The study answered the research questions posed and it’s concluded that it is possible to promote interculturality through artistic practices, as these enable the expression of feelings and identities, and the knowledge of the other, also favoring communication between people of various cultures and promoting intercultural education.
