Abstract In a society characterized by advances in science and technology, new challenges arise for education systems, requiring teachers to intentionally integrate diverse learning environments: physical, digital and virtual. The use of technology alone is not sufficient, it is essential that teaching and learning practices foster opportunities for meaningful and sustainable learning. At the same time, the subject of Physics and Chemistry encourages students to recognize the relevance of science and technology in everyday life and to develop the ability to communicate scientific ideas effectively. Within this context, teachers are challenged to innovate and design learning environments that incorporate ICT (Information and Communication Technology), thereby enhancing communication in Physics and Chemistry. One way to achieve this is through the Gallery Walk instructional strategy. This study was conducted with a 9th-grade Physics and Chemistry class, aiming to understand what contribution Gallery Walk plays in student’s communication during their performance when using ICT to solve challenging tasks. Another objective was to identify the level of students’ engagement in the implemented didactical experience. Therefore, a qualitative research approach was adopted, taking the form of an interpretative case study. Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, interview, analysis of students written work, and audiovisual recordings. The data, analyzed holistically and descriptively. The results indicate that the students performed well on the proposed tasks, where the Gallery Walk contributed to the quality of students’ communication in the resolution of the tasks, enabling them to develop analytical and synthesis skills, interpret reliable sources, use scientifically accurate language, and transmit content clearly and precisely, with the use of ICT contributing to the creation, organization and interaction in the presentation of the content. The student’ cognitive, affective, and behavioral engagement during the implementation of the didactic intervention also contributed to these results, promoting active learning and collaborative work.
