A Forest School integra metodologias inspiradas no modelo Forest School escandinavo, adequando-as à realidade local, valorizando o património natural.
This paper presents the development and evaluation of the Forest School Project - Roots of the Montado, an outdoor education initiative located in the Cabeça Gorda and Salvada Forest Perimeter. The study analyzes the pedagogical, territorial, and community framework that underpins the model, highlighting its relevance in the context of environmental education, educational tourism, and experiential learning. The Forest School integrates methodologies inspired by the Scandinavian Forest School model, adapting them to the local reality and valuing the natural heritage. This project stands out for its integration of the local community (shoemaker, farmers, rural producers, cultural and educational agents) and for valuing the natural heritage of the montado. The results indicate that this model contributes significantly to the development of children's socio-emotional skills, to strengthening the nature-individual bond, and to the educational and cultural dynamism of the territory. The project also reveals potential for future expansion, namely through the creation of holiday camps, specialized training, and new tree climbing infrastructure. |
